How to Help a Healthcare Client Start Their First Uniform Program
Share
Plenty of healthcare clients on your books have never had a formal uniform program. Staff buy their own scrubs, wear whatever brand they like, and the practice or facility has no real say in how the team looks or whether logos even show up. That's not a dead end. It's a chance to solve a problem they may not have realized they had.
Clients without a program don't need a sales pitch. They need someone who understands their day-to-day operations well enough to point out what's missing and help them fix it. Here's how to have that conversation as their advisor, not their vendor.
Start With What's Actually Costing Them
Before you talk about scrubs, find out what the lack of a program is costing your client, even if they haven't framed it that way themselves. Ask about:
- How staff currently source their scrubs, and whether the facility reimburses or requires specific colors
- Whether patients or visitors can tell who works there and what department they're in
- How much time office managers or HR spend fielding uniform questions, sizing issues, or complaints
- Whether they've had trouble with staff wearing mismatched, faded, or non-compliant apparel
Most administrators haven't priced out the hours their team spends on uniform logistics, because no one's ever asked them to. Once you walk through it together, the gap becomes obvious, and so does the value of solving it.
Frame the Program Around What They Need, Not What You're Offering
A client with no existing program isn't comparing vendors. They're deciding whether a uniform program is worth having at all. Guide them through the outcomes that matter to their operation:
Consistent, professional appearance. Patients and visitors can identify staff at a glance, which matters for both safety and first impressions.
Less time on uniform admin. A managed program takes ordering, sizing, and replacement questions off the practice manager's plate.
Staff choice within guardrails. Employees pick their preferred fit, fabric, and style from an approved list, instead of being handed one option or left to buy whatever's cheapest.
A program that scales. As the client adds locations or departments, the program should be easy to extend, not something that has to be rebuilt each time.
Work Through the Concerns Together
Clients without a uniform program tend to hesitate for a few predictable reasons. Talk through them honestly instead of waiting for them to come up.
"We don't want to manage another vendor." They won't have to. Uniform Stores by Scrub Authority builds and manages the store, handles embroidery, ships straight to each employee, and covers returns and exchanges through U.S.-based customer service. The client keeps the relationship with you; the day-to-day fulfillment runs in the background.
"This sounds expensive." Programs can run on a stipend model, where the facility sets a budget per employee and staff shop within it. There's no inventory to buy or hold, so the client isn't sinking money into stock that sits on a shelf.
"Our staff already have opinions about their scrubs." That's an argument for a program, not against one. A curated selection from 23 leading scrub brands gives staff real choice while keeping colors and logos consistent across the team.
Start Small and Let the Results Speak
A client who's never had a uniform program doesn't need to commit to a full rollout on day one. Suggest starting with one department or location, walk them through what the employee ordering experience looks like, and let the results build the case for expanding it. Once staff see their name and the practice's logo on scrubs they actually chose, word travels fast internally, and your client sees you as the person who made it happen.
Let the Platform Do the Heavy Lifting
You don't have to build any of this yourself. Uniform Stores by Scrub Authority is designed specifically for groups new to uniform programs, with stipend management, direct-to-employee delivery, and support built in from day one. You bring the relationship and the insight into what your client needs. The platform handles everything else, so you can spend your time helping more clients solve problems instead of managing fulfillment on this one.
